An early Saturday morning crash in Denver left one person dead and prompted road closures, officials said.

The Denver Police Department is investigating two separate accidents — each involving two cars — that happened in the same area around 3 a.m. at Interstate 70 and Pecos Street, the department said in a tweet.

One person was killed in these accidents, police said.

As of 1 p.m., Denver police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez said it was “too early to tell” any details about the two crashes.

Westbound I-70 is reopened at Pecos Street after cleaning up the crash, the Colorado Department of Transportation said around 7:45 a.m.

Denver police originally said the crash was a single-vehicle accident.

This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available.
