Interview with Kathy Hartzheim, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: My mother inspired me when I was pretty young. She permed the neighbor ladies until I took over when I was 13.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: What distinguishes me from others is my desire to never stop learning, my passion for hairdressing and my ability to always run on time. Being late steals other people’s time.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: I love the personal connections I have made and the ability to make my guest feel pretty or cool or happy. Being a hairstylist is a gift.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: The hardest part is the business end, but that is also satisfying because at the end of the day, I did it.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: For 20 years, I rode a snowmobile in the back country. I totally loved being in the middle of nowhere. It was physical, emotional and spiritually demanding. And so much fun.
