Interview with Venessa Angell, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: My family has lived in the town of Morrison for many years. We love our little town and when the opportunity arose to have a business in town as well as a home, we couldn’t pass it up. The decision to create a unique market-style boutique came from personal interests such as cooking, antiques and gardening.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: Our business is distinctive in that we are a market-style boutique. We offer local and handmade foods, kitchen items, local and natural body care products, as well as recycled clothing, antiques and unique new decor and gifts.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: It is so much fun to find things that our customers get excited about! In addition, having the freedom to choose local and have a connection with our community feels great!
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: Our biggest challenge is one shared with our fellow businesses in the town of Morrison — the seasonal flow of customers. During the summer, our town is flooded with people walking around and enjoying our home, but once the cold weather creeps in, it becomes much more difficult to get people to come our way.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: We are pet-friendly and carry some pet supplies and gifts. We even have a shop dog!
