Interview with Harlin Hirsch, president
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: In the early ’90s, I got interested in video rentals. I opened a couple stores in Iowa then.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: There are not many stores like ours. We do not do rentals at all, only buying, selling and trading new and used videos.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: I meet a lot of different people, and I’m not always doing the same thing day in and day out.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: To keep a good inventory of DVDs in stock, as well as other products to sell in the store.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: We have a section in our store where we sell miscellaneous new and used items. We call that store the “Amazing Discount Shop,” with thousands of items at very low prices. We also have online sales of hundreds of items through Amazon and eBay, under the ID “Amazing Discount Shop.” We do have our own website, , but it’s not up and running yet.
