GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials say a man who claimed to have been mauled by a bear on Grand Mesa Saturday was not actually mauled by a bear.
The Daily Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/1YBoDBv ) that after three days of investigation, officials said Tuesday that they found conclusive evidence that a bear attack did not take place.
A man in his late 60s reported being attacked by a bear Saturday, which caused him to drive his ATV over a small cliff into large rocks below. Officials say they are not discounting that he saw something that caused him to react, but that it was not a bear.
