From retrofitted vintage houses to freshly minted dwellings, the will showcase some of the most innovative, eco-friendly residences in the area.

Eleven dwellings are featured on the self-guided tour, a rain-or-shine event running Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The tour includes eight single-family homes, one example of multifamily public house, one co-housing unit and a “tiny house.”

“It’s our inaugural event,” said Juana Gómez, a principal with Lawrence and Gómez Architects and a member of the home tour’s steering committee. “Years ago it was a solar home tour. We wanted to expand it to include green sustainable living and construction.”

The tour will include older homes that have gone green, plus some sleek new light-filled designs.

“Our purpose was to get a wide range of projects and budgets to show how every home can be green,” Gómez said.

Asked if she had a favorite house on the tour, Gómez laughed. “I’m unfortunately biased, because one of them is mine.” She was referring to a house she designed for Julia and Luis Garza; it’s a LEED Platinum candidate home in Boulder’s historic Mapleton Hill neighborhood.

The organization hopes to draw 500 people to the tour.

Tickets are available at and are $12 in advance, $15 on the day of the event. A portion of the proceeds goes to to help underwrite their local projects.

An after-party and green expo will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at at 2017 13th St. in Boulder.
