The Northglenn Police Department is searching for a suspected police impersonator accused of pulling over a man and hit him in the face, officials said.

Northglenn police responded to Huron Street and Kennedy Drive at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday after a man said he stopped for a vehicle he thought was a police car, according to a police news release Wednesday.

The victim told police that after he pulled over at about 10:20 p.m. and gave his vehicle information, the impersonator asked him to exit the vehicle and walk a straight line.

When the victim did so, the impersonator struck him in the face, police said, and caused a minor injury.

The suspect is described as a white male around 6-feet tall with blonde, spiked hair. The suspect was wearing a duty belt with a holster, ammo pouches and a handcuff case, the release said.

Police did not know if the suspect was armed but said he was driving a black SUV with a blue light bar and it might have a spotlight on the driver’s side near the side-view mirror.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 303-450-8868.
