The Nuggets are watching recently released guard Mike Miller closely, a source said, and the organization is very interested in attempting to sign the veteran if he clears waivers.
Miller received a buyout from the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, and was placed on waivers. If he goes unclaimed,he’ll be an unrestricted free agent, and the Nuggets are among the teams looking to grab him. The Nuggets have 14 guaranteed contracts on the roster, one fewer than the league-mandated maximum, so there is space for one more.
This isn’t the first dance the Nuggets will have done with Miller. He visited Denver last summer on a free-agent trip before signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs traded Miller and center Brendan Haywood to Portland in July.
Miller was scheduled to make $2.8 million this season with the Blazers.
In 15 seasons in the NBA, the sharp-shooting Miller has averaged 11.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 40.7 percent from 3-point range with Orlando, Memphis, Minnesota, Washington, Miami and Cleveland.
