1 Squatters steal electricity. A couple who live in the 14000 block of East 22nd Place called police Sept. 12 because their electricity line had been tapped into by a group of people living in an abandoned house next door. An extension cord ran from the victims’ line through the living room window in the house next door to power a lamp.

2 Stabbed while unconscious. A man who lives in the 1300 block of North Moline Street said he was attacked on his front porch by two men who wanted cigarettes Sept. 13. The victim passed out during the attack and woke up with knife wounds on his hands and face. The suspects stole his cigarettes and left with no witnesses.

3 Bathroom thief. A woman put her phone on the bathroom counter at Expo Recreation Center at 10955 E. Exposition Ave., and when she came out of the bathroom stall, it was gone Sept. 12.

4 Money test. Police responded to the Mi Pueblo Market at 15585 E. Colfax Ave. because a man tried to pay for his groceries with a counterfeit $100 bill on Sept. 3. The suspect stayed on scene because he didn’t believe the money was fake. The bill didn’t go through a counting machine.

5 Stolen credit card. A man who lives in the 24500 block of East Hoover Place received a call from his bank Sept. 19 to see if he was on a spending spree with his credit card that day. He wasn’t, so he had the card shut down.

6 Counter swipe. The manger of the Big O Tires at 18431 E. Hampden Ave., called police because one of his customers left her iPhone on the register counter, and then a man walked in and stole it Sept. 20.
