The body of a Montana man was flown Sunday from Longs Peak, where he apparently died, to Upper Beaver Meadows, in Rocky Mountain National Park.
RMNP rangers were notified Friday night that Spencer Veysey, 26, of Missoula, Mont., who had been planning to summit Longs Peak, was overdue, according to an RMNP release.
It wasn’t clear what route Veysey planned to take to the summit.
When he hadn’t returned by Saturday morning, park rangers searched areas of the Keyhole Route as well as areas near Chasm Lake.
“Late Saturday afternoon, park rangers found Veysey’s body at the bottom of Lambs Slide on the east side of the peak,” according to the release.
On Sunday morning, after spending the night at the Chasm Shelter, near the body, rangers prepared his body for transport.
His body was flown to a landing spot at Upper Beaver Meadows at about 11:30 a.m., and transferred to the coroner, the release said.
