A fog bank greeted travelers at Denver International Airport Monday morning.

“The fog is quite thick in the Limon area and the Eastern plains,” said David Barjenbruch, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Boulder.

The fog began to dissipate around 6 a.m. Monday at DIA and will clear out of the eastern plains by about 10 a.m., Barjenbruch said.

Temperatures in the Denver metro area are expected to rise to the low- to mid-70s Monday and remain in the 70s even after it begins to rain in the afternoon and on Tuesday.

There is a 20 percent chance for rain Monday afternoon and evening, a 30 percent chance of rain Tuesday afternoon and a 50 to 60 percent chance of rain Tuesday night, Barjenbruch said.

Mild temperatures will persist through much of the week. By Saturday or Sunday, temperatures could rise into the low 80s, he said.
