Arapahoe High School has changed its dance policy to ban students from “grinding” as it kicks off its homecoming week.
“No longer will front-to-back dancing or ‘grinding’ be allowed,” Principal Natalie Pramenko said in a letter sent home to parents on Monday. “If you are not sure of what that means, I would suggest you ‘Google it.’ “
Officials at Littleton Public Schools did not respond to messages seeking comment about the new policy left Monday and Tuesday. A receptionist at Arapahoe High School, when reached Tuesday, deferred questions about the ban to the district.
Pramenko, in her letter, said students were shown a short video about the ban and further on how to “treat each other respectfully, not only at dances, but at all times.”
“They were also told of possible legal ramifications that could occur if they touch someone inappropriately and/or without consent,” the letter said. “We have high expectations for their behavior, and I know you do as well.”
The letter did not specifically say why the ban was put in place.
