Former Grandview High School star Greg Bird will be starting at first base for the Yankees in their American League Wild Card game against the Astros Tuesday.

The rookie Bird, 22, was called up to New York’s main roster in August. He showcased his power during the regular season, hitting 11 home runs in 157 at-bats, while batting .261 and driving in 31 RBIs.

“It’s a special feeling. Just to be able to come up and help these guys out. I followed them all year … just being able to come up and help,” .

The Yankees host the Astros at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The game will be shown on ESPN. The winner will take on the Kansas City Royals Thursday.
