A 4-year-old child suffered serious injuries after being hit by a truck in Loveland on Wednesday evening.

A man and two children, ages 8 and 4, were crossing East 57th Street mid-block where there were no sidewalks, according to a Loveland Police Department news release.

The man tripped on the south side of the raised median, and the 4-year-old continued walking across the median and entered the roadway in front of westbound traffic.

The 4-year-old was hit by a blue 1996 GMC pickup truck driven by 60-year-old Dale Ketcher of Fort Collins.

The child suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment, the release said.

“Impairment and distracted driving are not considered a factor in this case,” police said.

When the investigation is complete, the case will be presented to the Larimer County District Attorney’s Office to determine if charges will be filed.

Police told 7News that the victim was a boy and that Ketcher remained at the scene.
