The father of two toddlers who were found walking alone along a road Wednesday has been arrested for child abuse not resulting in injury, officials said.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office identified the father of the children as 25-year-old Kyle McClelland.
Authorities found the parents of two toddlers five hours after the boys were found walking alone.
The county sheriff’s office says the children — who are 2 and 3 years old — were found about 12:30 p.m. in the southern part of the county along the 5400 block of South Quail Way.
The office announced the parents were located about 5:30 p.m.
“We did a neighborhood canvas, and we also used to reach out to about 450 homes in that area and turned up nothing,” Jacki Kelley, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, said during the search.
Kelley said human services is involved in the incident.
