WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman raised more than $475,000 for his re-election campaign between July 1 and Sept. 30 and the incumbent Republican now has more than $855,000 cash-on-hand for his race against Democrat Morgan Carroll, according to figures released Wednesday by his campaign.
The haul is the largest of the year so far for Coffman, who represents Colorado’s 6th Congressional District, a competitive seat that centers on Aurora. His windfall raises the bar for Carroll, a state senator who in July.
“We’re happy with them. They are very strong numbers and I think it says a lot about momentum in this race,” said Coffman in a phone interview.
Carroll, who has the backing of major Democratic groups and allies, has yet to announce her third-quarter figures.
Details on who gave money to Coffman and Carroll won’t be available until Oct. 15 when fundraising figures are due to the Federal Election Commission.
