An arrest warrant has been filed against a 34-year-old man accused of fleeing from a police officer, ramming another car and killing a 17-year-old boy in Greeley.
Wyatt Richard Nykamp has been charged with vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, eluding, reckless driving, driving under revocation and running a red light in connection to the death of Riley Young.
Nykamp is currently under treatment at a local hospital.
Young’s father, James Young, 44, who was a passenger at the time of the accident on Saturday also remains in the hospital.
A police officer tried to pull Nykamp over on 8th Street after he allegedly ran a red light.
Nykamp allegedly sped away reaching speeds estimated of 80 mph even though the police officer did not give chase, according to a news release.
Nykamp collided with the car Riley Young was driving at the intersection of U.S. Highway 85 and 8th Street.
Riley Young was pronounced dead at the scene. His father was critically injured.
