Best known as leader of the celebrated alt-rock act Throwing Muses, Kristin Hersh is also the author of an acclaimed memoir (“Rat Girl”) and the new book “Don’t Suck, Don’t Die: Giving Up Vic Chesnutt.” The 198-page ode, which NPR recently dubbed “one of the most beautiful rock memoirs ever written,” traces the life of Hersh’s late, prolific friend and tourmate Chesnutt, a quadriplegic singer-songwriter from Athens, Ga., whose work has been covered by Madonna, Michael Stipe and many others. Hersh’s cross-country tour promoting the book includes a 7:30 p.m. signing on Oct. 9 at Boulder Bookstore (1107 Pearl St.) followed by an 8 p.m. concert on Oct. 10 at Swallow Hill’s Tuft Theater (71 E. Yale Ave.). $21-$23, .
