Cream and sugar

Panera Bread is doing its part to raise some dough for breast cancer research and awareness by offering a limited-edition tumbler in October. To help the cause, purchase a 2015 Pink Ribbon tumbler for $10. Then, bring the tumbler in to any Colorado Panera Bread and receive free unlimited brewed coffee refills through Oct. 31. It’s even more of perk because the net proceeds benefit Rocky Mountain Cancer Assistance. The sooner you buy a tumbler, the more refills you can enjoy.

It’s raining pumpkins!

Punkin Chunkin returns to Aurora’s Arapahoe Park Racetrack, 26000 E. Quincy Ave., on Oct. 10 and 11. Whether it’s a sport or mechanical challenge, it’s a hoot to watch large slingshots, catapults, centrifuges, trebuchets and pneumatic air cannons hurl pumpkins as far as possible. Hours are Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Oct. 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Each day also includes a pumpkin patch, obstacle course, scarecrow making, lumberjack show, food vendors, live music and children’s activities. Admission is $5 each day for adults. Children 12 and under are free, as is parking. Some activities cost extra. aurorapunkin

No-brainer

Denver’s annual Zombie Crawl centers on Skyline Park, 16th and Arapahoe in downtown Denver, on Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. (Get makeup help starting at noon.) Thousands of the walking dead will roam downtown, especially on the 16th Street Mall. And, this year, they hope to set a world record. You can crawl for free. However, a $5 wristband (available online or at arc Thrift Stores) scares up a free Red Bull, a pint of beer and assorted “killer deals.” Also, be a good ghoul and bring a nonperishable food item for the Food Bank of the Rockies.

Treasure hunt

If you count yourself a true-blue “junker,” then stop by the Beautiful Junk Sale on Oct. 16 and 17 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 15200 W. Sixth Ave., Golden. It’s 10,500 square feet of bargains, including jewelry, collectibles, vintage odds and ends, holiday decor and a vast array of household items — all for a good cause. The sale is open Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission for adults is $4. Get $1 off if you bring two or more nonperishable food donations. An early-bird sale ($30 entry) begins at 7 a.m. on Friday. Proceeds benefit Jeffco Action Center, which helps those in need.

Pizza party

How do you turn a burrito into a pizza? It’s easier and cheaper than you’d think. Just visit Chipotle, purchase an entree at regular price and keep your receipt. Then, take your original receipt to Pizzeria Locale on Mondays in October and get a free pizza. (Mark your calendar for Oct. 12, 19 and 26.) Limit one pizza per Chipotle receipt, per person, per day. If you didn’t know, Chipotle owns Pizzeria Locale. Like its spicier counterpart, the pizzas are made right in front of you in minutes, with you customizing it along the way. There are two Pizzeria Locale locations in Denver: 550 Broadway and 3484 W. 32nd Ave.
