Avs coach Patrick Roy used his fourth line — particularly center John Mitchell (15:45) — more than the third line in Thursday’s 5-4 collapse against Minnesota. Third-line wingers Mikko Rantanen (7:24) and Borna Rendulic (7:09) weren’t used because of their lack of experience. Roy talked about those guys in Saturday morning’s press conference:
Not much going on at the Pepsi Center this morning. Same drill as Thursday: only scratched players (F Mikhail Grigorenko, D Brad Staurt, D Brandon Gormley) skated. What looked like a full compliment of Dallas players skated in the second session.
For a refresher, here’s Colorado’s lines/pairings:
Comeau-Duchene-Iginla
Landeskog-MacKinnon-Tanguay
Rantanen-Soderberg-Rendulic
McLeod-Mitchell-Skille
Beauchemin-Johnson
Guenin-Barrie
Zadorov-Holden
