Q: Recently I had Windows 10 installed on my computer. I am in a women’s golf league. The pairings are sent by e-mail in an Adobe format. I have not been able to open the pairings since Windows 10 was put on my computer. Is there a reason for this? — Gayle Shapiro, Colorado Springs

A: Microsoft doesn’t pay me to help readers solve their Windows problems. But after I asked, the company agreed to help answer a few questions, including Gayle’s. Rob Armour, manager of , shared this response:

There is a chance the device is unable to open these documents because it needs a PDF reader installed. Adobe offers its reader for free at .

Just be sure to uncheck all the boxes when downloading and installing Adobe, otherwise it will reset your browser homepage and install McAfee and a toolbar.

If this does not resolve the issue, there might be something more significant going on, and I would recommend bringing it to the Answer Desk at the for a free consultation.

Thanks, Rob. I’ve mentioned the local stores before, and think they’re a great resource, especially for Mailbag readers who need actual hand-holding. You can visit Microsoft’s Answer Desk for some paid help and . Make an appointment first at your local store:
