Nuggets forward Darrell Arthur got some positive news from additional tests on his right leg, including an MRI, which revealed no damage to his right hamstring but instead showed a bone bruise in his right knee.
As such, there is a chance he could make his preseason debut on Friday in the Nuggets’ home game against Phoenix. But he has to make good progress before then.
“They were relieved from the results of the MRI,” Nuggets coach Michael Malone said Monday of the team doctors. “So hopefully by the beginning of the regular season he’s back in the flow of things.”
Arthur participated in Monday’s practice in a limited capacity. Malone hopes Arthur can get some work in during Tuesday’s shootaround at Golden State, but the veteran will not play in that game. Randy Foye (hamstring) is also out for the game at the Warriors.
If Arthur can increase his workload with no setbacks in Wednesday’s and Thursday’s practices, he could play Friday.
“He’s got to work up in practice, he hasn’t practiced for a while,” Malone said. “He did a little bit today, and every day we go along I’m sure they’ll give him a little bit more time. Obviously, if he’s ready by Friday, we’ll throw him out there.”
