Boulder — Colorado gets a piece of its reshuffled offensive line back this week with the return of left tackle Sam Kronshage.
Kronshage, a sophomore, suffered a concussion in the Oregon game and was unable to play last week at Arizona State. Kronshage was a replacement for Jeromy Irwin, who was lost in the second game of the season. With Kronshage unavailable last week, right tackle Stephane Nembot had to move from right tackle to left. Redshirt freshman John Lisella stepped into Nembot’s spot at right tackle. The Buffs gave up eight sacks in the game.
“I finished the whole practice today, so things are looking good for Saturday,” Kronshage said after practice Wednesday. “There’s a protocol you have to follow. There are different steps you have to take, tests you have to pass. Then there’s a non-contact day and then you just progress after that. Today was a full-contact day for me, I did the whole practice, I feel good about it.”
Kronshage said there wasn’t a specific play that caused his concussion.
“I think it was a mixture of a couple different plays,” Kronshage said. “Then I just had a headache. I told the trainers, and that was that. I think it was a couple shots to the head that did it.”
Kronshage wasn’t even allowed to travel with the team to the ASU game.
“Very frustrating,” Kronshage said. “Itap extremely weird to watch it on TV. It was a new experience for me. But injuries happen, you’ve just got to overcome it and get ready for next week.”
