Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet raised more than $1.6 million in the last three months, a total that boosts his campaign war chest to $5.4 million.
The third-quarter haul announced Wednesday didn’t match the $2 million that Bennet raised in . But his campaign’s substantial bank account remains a major obstacle for Republicans, who are for a top-notch candidate to challenge him in the 2016 election.
Bennet reported $4.3 million on hand at the end of June, meaning he padded his lead by $1.1 million in the third quarter. The official report is due Thursday.
“Our supporters have put us in a very strong position heading into the end of 2015 and Michael’s proud of the tremendous support he’s received,” said Bennet campaign manager Dan McNally in a statement.
The only Republican U.S. Senate candidate in Colorado to post campaign finance numbers is El Paso County Commissioner . FEC records show he had $11,500 in the bank and the end June but $16,500 in debt. Glenn has not yet filed a third quarter campaign finance report.
State Sen. Tim Neville at the start of October, meaning he won’t file a campaign fundraising report until the end of the year.
