Adams County deputies were unable to track down an auto theft suspect early Thursday after he fled from authorities, wrecked a stolen vehicle and ran off.

Sgt. Jim Morgen, spokesman for the county sheriff’s office, says the vehicle was first spotted by a deputy near 88th Avenue and Interstate 76.

When the deputy tried to stop the vehicle, it fled, Morgen said.

The deputy then followed the vehicle to the 10000 block of Monaco Street where it had wrecked. The vehicle’s occupants were nowhere to be found, according to Morgen.

“They did a search with a K-9 and were looking around for (more than) two hours,” Morgen said. “(They) came up with nobody.”
