For as blue as he is on his solo albums, Nathaniel Rateliff’s reemergence with the Night Sweats has given the singer-songwriter some deserved good news. After well-received performances on and and of his latest album, it would be hard to question that the soul-rock project has been a success.

Especially when you have the numbers to back it up. As of yesterday, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweat’s on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Songs chart for the week of Oct. 24, up from number two the week before. It marks Rateliff’s first week at number one on any of Billboard’s charts.

As for the definition of Adult Alternative Songs: It refers to songs played on Adult Album Alternative stations like Denver’s own KBCO who play pop and rock that’s just left of mainstream. As a point of reference, U2 has the record for most weeks at number one on the Triple-A songs chart, registering 16 weeks with–wait for it–“Beautiful Day.”

Only 15 weeks to go, Nathaniel!
