If you have one Sunday this month to watch football all day, Week 6 is definitely the week.
At least two other games could have been Game of the Week: the Eagles and Giants battle for NFC East supremacy in a Monday night rivalry game, while Tom Brady and the Patriots will continue their Deflategate revenge tour against the Colts in an AFC Championship Game rematch.
But the must-see matchup features Carolina striving to keep its undefeated record intact in Seattle against a struggling but talented Seahawks team.
Washington at New York Jets, 11 a.m. The Jets are giving up less than two touchdowns a game (13.8 points) on defense this season in their surprising 3-1 start. That’s the lowest in the NFL by two points.
Arizona at Pittsburgh, 11 a.m. The Cardinals have an NFL-leading 100-point differential through five games this season. Does that say more about their talent or the talent of the teams they have played?
Kansas City at Minnesota, 11 a.m. How the Chiefs respond to Jamaal Charles’ season-ending ACL injury and 1-4 start will be the difference between 3-13 and 7-9 or 8-8.
Cincinnati at Buffalo, 11 a.m. Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton is averaging more than 300 passing yards a game and has a 11-to-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He’s an early MVP candidate.
Chicago at Detroit, 11 a.m. Don’t look now, but Jay Cutler’s return from injury has sparked the Bears to back-to-back wins. The Lions are looking for just one win.
Houston at Jacksonville, 11 a.m. Despite poor quarterback play, Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins is the NFL’s leading receiver with 578 yards.
Miami at Tennessee, 11 a.m. I’m eager to see if this Dolphins team comes out with new energy under interim coach Dan Campbell. They’ve averaged only 16.3 points a game, second least in the NFL.
San Diego at Green Bay, 2:25 p.m., KCNC-4. Aaron Rodgers’ home-interception streak ended last week, but his perfect record stayed alive. The Packers defense has an interception in six straight games.
Baltimore at San Francisco, 2:25 p.m. Two once-lethal teams feared by their defenses now dwindle to obscurity due to a lack of defense. Each team ranks in the bottom 10 of points allowed per game.
New England at Indianapolis, 6:30 p.m., KUSA-9. The Colts are the only team in the NFL with a winning record and a negative point differential. New England is a double-digit road favorite in the AFC Championship rematch.
New York Giants at Philadelphia, 6:30 p.m., Monday, ESPN. The last time these two teams played in Philly, the Eagles came out in black jerseys and dominated the Giants 27-0. They are bringing out the black jerseys again Monday.
Game of the week
Carolina at Seattle, 2:05 p.m., KDVR-31.
The Seahawks have had their away against Carolina. They are 4-0 against the Panthers since Cam Newton was drafted in 2011. Will that lingering dominance have any effect on Newton in game that almost certainly will be decided by quarterback play? Seattle has blown fourth-quarter leads in all three of their losses this season.
