Head west over the hill from I-25 into Erie, and the views you’ll see of the Indian Peaks are the first sign that this is a special setting for homes; a higher quality of community with nicer amenities. Shea Homes, which arrived at Erie’s Colliers Hill last year with a fast selling series of mid-priced homes, has watched as the dividends of this site have rolled in — and is now cashing in with a larger and more luxurious series of homes unveiled just two weeks ago. And buyers already like what they see.
“They’re surprised by the elegance and quality compared with other builders they’ve toured in the north and northwest areas,” says Kelly Clark with Shea, who’ll show you Shea’s two stunningly attractive models today, three miles west of the Freeway at Exit 232. In the few days’ those models have been completed, she’s already taken three contracts on them – for every site Shea had released for them. But more sites open this weekend and during the month ahead. “I think we’re going to be seeing people coming up from the city of Denver for these, once the word gets out about how much we’re offering here.” With every passing month you can see more components of this Erie package come together. This past summer, Colliers Hill’s pool opened, beside an eye-catching clubhouse that’s rapidly taking shape alongside, set to open next month. Neighborhood parks are planned for around 400 acres of the surrounding 963-acre expanse. Erie’s new high school (you’ll pass it driving in from I-25) is just east – and a half mile west you’ll see the town’s new library and recreation center, south of the historic downtown of Erie with some venerable cafes and taverns. All of that makes the value Shea offers at Colliers Hill look particularly good to buyers arriving from more expensive properties west of here. “Realtors from the Boulder area are particularly excited by these models because of the prices here,” Clark adds. Among recent Shea sales was one to a couple moving up from an older Erie neighborhood – where their resale home sold in only 48 hours. Each of these Peakview designs comes with premium kitchen features including double oven, gas cooktop, and granite or Corian tops; matched to wrought-iron stair rails, a rain shower in the master bath, and a standard 3-car garage — full-wide on most plans, and on some offering a side facing 3rd carriage bay. You’ll find three new Peakview homes that Shea has on track for move-in before the holidays – including a spacious Suncatcher ranch design, three bedrooms and 2-1/2 baths with just under 2,500 square feet finished, plus basement and split 3-car-garage. It’s priced at $550,000, including upgraded fireplace and a chef’s kitchen. Shea has other homes nearing completion from its mid-priced Shea3D series, from as low as $440,990. Use Shea Mortgage to arrange your financing and you can take $10,000 toward your closing costs. Should you wait on this for sites that Shea brings on next year? Not a good idea, says Clark. “You’re going to pay more,” she says. To visit the new collection, take I-25 north past E470 and continue three more miles to Exit 232, Erie, and head west three miles to Colliers Boulevard, then north to Dawn Avenue. Or from Boulder take Baseline east to U.S. 287, north 1.5 mi. to Erie Parkway, and east 2.5 miles.
