Arapahoe County authorities said Monday a first-degree murder warrant has been issued for a 58-year-old man suspected in the death of a woman found Saturday in a burning Strasburg home.

Andrew Ausmus — considered “dangerous” — is accused in the death which was discovered when a fire was reported at about 1:10 a.m. Saturday morning at 4100 South County Road 157.

Ausmus is described as a white man, about 5-feet 11-inches tall and weighing roughly 230 pounds. The sheriff’s office says he has brown hair and hazel eyes.

The county sheriff’s office said Monday it located the second of two vehicles sought in connection case.

A passerby saw flames and smoke coming from the home and alerted authorities. When fire crews arrived, they found a woman inside the home who had died, Julie Brooks, a sheriff’s office spokeswoman, said.

Authorities do not yet know the cause of the fire or the cause of death, Brooks said. No information on the victim has been released and authorities declined Monday to elaborate on the case.

Anyone with information about Ausmus is asked to call the sheriff’s office.
