The Rockies will keep their coaching staff intact under manager Walt Weiss next season, including hitting coach Blake Doyle and bench coach Tom Runnels, the team said Tuesday.
for the final year of his contract after the manager met with Colorado general manager Jeff Bridich to review a last-place finish this season in the National League West.

“We haven’t won yet,” . “But I feel like there’s a foundation of respect and trust in the clubhouse with this coaching staff. Guys on this team feel the need to show up and compete every day. … I don’t expect people to give that a whole lot of credence. But, for me, when I look in the mirror after every game, that’s what me and the staff hang our hat on.”
Runnels has been with Weiss since the manager took over two years ago. Doyle was hired before the 2014 season, to take the place of Dante Bichette.
Pitching coach Steve Foster and bullpen coach Darren Holmes, who were hired at the start of 2015, will also return.
The Rockies’ .265 batting average ranked fifth in baseball this season — but their .228 average on the road ranked last among 30 teams.
And their 5.04 team ERA also ranked last in baseball, the only team even above 5.00.
