Multiple crashes and inclement weather Thursday morning closed a stretch of Interstate 70’s eastbound lanes in the high country for several hours, officials said.
The eastbound lanes were closed at Silverthorne through the Eisenhower Tunnel from about 11 a.m. until just before 1 p.m. to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Several crashes damaged vehicles and snowy road conditions contributed to the road closure, said Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis.
One crash involved a vehicle and a CDOT snow plow on Colorado 91 at mile marker 11, Lewis said. No injuries were immediately reported in that crash.
Summit County is on accident alert, Lewis said, along with Clear Creek County.
