It appears that was time well spent. Grimes just released a singles double-feature from her forthcoming album, “Art Angels,” and it’s entrancing.

In the two-part video, Grimes presents two personas: The first, a sort-of Marie Antoinette of badminton; the second, a possessed cowboy angel. Oddly enough, the aesthetic works. Grimes hones in on her best Belinda Carlisle falsetto, which she pipes in front of the sugariest pop hook she’s ever written. As if all that weren’t enough, things get even more bizarre around the 2:30 mark with a spout of blood. No warning–just blood.
