A Lakewood police officer was shot Tuesday morning at a Jefferson County law enforcement firing range and training facility.
The officer was struck in the leg by a ricochet round, the county sheriff’s office said.
Authorities say the officer’s wound is non-life threatening.
Steve Davis, spokesman for Lakewood police, said the officer, a woman, will be OK.
“They have some training going on up there,” Davis said of the circumstances in which the officer was shot.
Investigators believe the officer, who was at the training area’s pistol range, was struck by a round fired at a nearby rifle firing range.
