Interview with Lea McAnally, owner

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: My mother had an interest in antiques and I just sort of picked it up from her and that’s how it all started. We have a lot of country primitives in my home and we carry many of them in the store.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: The volume that I carry and the quality of the items. We have a large volume of old butter churns, spinning wheels and crocks. Furniture is our most popular category. People come for tables, chairs and small items like decoys. We have a lot of duck decoys.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: The people I meet. You meet a variety of people. I have lots of interesting conversations. People have come from as far away as South Dakota.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: Hiring people. It’s hard to find people who want to work the hours I am open.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: The house that I occupy is over 100 year old. I restored it completely when I bought it. It had previously been a business and a private residence. I have four cats that live there.
