Nov. 6. The Irish Chamber Orchestra has a tidy little connection to Boulder. The group’s conductor, Gabor Takacs-Nagy, is actually one of the founding members of the city’s number one string ensemble, the esteemed, world-traveling Takacs Quartet. He left that foursome a few years back but returns next Friday night with his new group for a CU Presents concert at Macky Auditorium. The program includes Bach’s Cello Concerto in A Major and two Haydn pieces, the Cello Concerto in C Major and Symphony No. 49. All that cello music requires a skilled soloist, and that comes in the form of Istvan Vardal, who has taken numerous prizes for his playing worldwide. 7;30 p.m. Nov. 6. Macky Auditorium on the CU campus. $10-$65. 303-492-8008 or .
