Tonight. Before Alfred Hitchcock came along, horror wasn’t all that scary. It was full of ghosts and goblins and vampires, the stuff of fantasy. But Hitchcock mined the evil that lives in all of us, and his “Psycho” made the movies all too real. Crazy, homicidal maniacs actually do exist in our world, and, well, they’re out there waiting for us, just like they were for actress Janet Leigh in 1960 when the film was first released. The Colorado Symphony Orchestra brings it all to life, screening the classic film and playing the music live. The score, by Bernard Herrman, is one of the most familiar soundtracks in the history of Hollywood, though not in a “Sound of Music” kind of way. 7:30 p.m. Boettcher Concert Hall, Denver Performing Arts Complex, $34-$94. 303-623-786 or .
