Lifts began turning Thursday morning at Loveland Ski Area and Arapahoe Basin, marking the start of a Colorado ski season that Mother Nature seemed reluctant to begin.

An A-Basin web camera showed a long line of skiers and snowboarders waiting to ride the resort’s only open lift.

At Loveland, Nate Dogggg, a snowboarder, continued his legendary status by riding the first winter lift chair to turn in the state for the 20th consecutive year.

Wolf Creek in southern Colorado and Keystone are slated to open next week on Nov. 6. Copper Mountain was scheduled to open Nov. 6 but on Wednesday it is moving to Nov. 13 to assure quality snow coverage.

Last year, A-Basin and Loveland on Nov. 1.
