A 19-year-old woman was thrown from a car and killed and a man and a woman were injured early Monday morning in a rollover crash believed to be drug or alcohol related.
Kayla Ann Flinchpaugh of Denver has been identified as the victim in the crash.
A 21-year-old man was driving east on Sixth Avenue around 1 a.m. when he took the Sheridan Boulevard exit and crashed into a guardrail, Davis said.
The vehicle cartwheeled over the guardrail and rolled, ejecting the 19-year-old woman who was in the back seat, he said.
The driver was hospitalized and a front-seat passenger was treated for minor injuries and released. The extent of the driver’s injuries were not known.
Charges are pending, Davis said.
“We do strongly suspect that alcohol or drugs was involved,” he said.
Sixth Avenue was closed for several hours during the investigation. It was reopened around 5:30 a.m.
