
It turns out, hat Volkswagen may also have cheated on emissions tests for cars with large diesel engines, including Porsche and Audi.
The EPA uncovered this from testing conducted with California regulators, not from a tipoff from Volkswagen — which actually denies the allegations.
Maybe Volkswagen is right for once and the EPA is wrong, but the benefit of the doubt has to go for now with the federal agency given the magnitude of the automaker’s admitted subterfuge.
In that light, the reaction of Denver Rep. Diana DeGette, who sits on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, is entirely understandable. “The latest revelations raise the question, where does VW’s road of deceit end?” she asked, adding, “It’s time for Volkswagen to fully come clean.”
