Coming off the Broncos’ 29-10 victory over the Packers on Sunday night, Denver cornerback Chris Harris still was fuming about an officials’ call.
On the Packers’ opening drive, quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw a deep incomplete pass to his tight end Richard Rodgers. Defensive end Derek Wolfe dropped back in coverage, and Harris was called for defensive holding.
“Oh my God. You saw it? It was like the ref was coming after me for no reason,” Harris said. “It’s like I was playing so good of man (coverage) that you just call a flag on me for no reason? I’m not even by the play. I didn’t even hold the dude at all. I don’t know man, it’s hard playing corner in the NFL.”

The flag didn’t lead to any Green Bay points, but it was the principle that mattered to Harris. The call also looked suspect to Broncos coach Gary Kubiak.
“We’ve had our share of penalties. We had four on the back end (Sunday) night. The one on Chris was hard to understand,” Kubiak said.
Harris said he doesn’t mind being called for penalties when they are valid. He’s been called for only one other penalty this season, a pass interference call at Detroit while he was covering Golden Tate. Harris said he thought the call Sunday night was personal. Sixteen-year veteran John Parry was the lead referee.
“He came up to me and charged me up like I was holding a lot, Harris said. “It’s the NFL; we know it’s an offensive league.”
Harris was visibly frustrated at the time, but did well to put it behind him and continue his lockdown coverage.
