Forward-thinking hip-hop outfit have started work on “NOENEMIES,” its new double-album of protest music that’s set for release later this year.
As we reported in , “NOENEMIES” will feature one disc of Flobots-style studio music, and one of live protest songs.
On March 12, Flobots are enlisting the public’s help to sing on the latter disc. The group is holding an all-day recording session from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Capitol Heights Presbyterian Church () to create material for the album.
The session will focus on 12 songs ranging from established protest music to mash-ups and remixes re-imagined to support modern movements. The Flotbots have tapped Boulder second-line orchestra and middle/high school choir to join the sessions.
“This recording session is an invitation, Flobots M.C. Stephen Brackett said in a release. “We know music is powerful. Now it is time to put this power into practice.”
