Denver’s veterans organizations will honor Colorado veterans on Sunday with a run, parade and festival in downtown Denver.
The observation kicks off at 8 a.m. with a 5K and 10K run that begins and ends at the Auraria Campus.
The parade along Colfax Avenue and around Civic Center park begins at 10 a.m. and will feature segments that represent the major conflicts in U.S. military history, including the Revolutionary War, Civil War, World War I, World War II, and more recent conflicts. Warrior Voices, a Colorado organization that trains and employs military veterans and their spouses as voice-over actors, will provide speakers along the route so more spectators can hear details about the displays and groups passing through.
Following the parade, a festival will begin in Civic Center park at 11 a.m. The festival features the Eyes of Freedom display, a UH-1H “Huey” Vietnam helicopter, Boots 66, Quilts of Valor and the Colorado Fallen Heroes Memorial. All proceeds from the events will benefit Colorado veterans and military organizations. The Denver Post
