COLORADO SPRINGS — The Gold Pan traveling trophy will reside in Denver for another year.
Denver’s Matt Marcinew’s slap shot from the left faceoff circle beat Colorado College goalie Jacob Nehama with 10:04 remaining, and the visiting Pioneers pulled away for a 3-1 victory over their National Collegiate Hockey Conference rivals.
“(After getting the lead), we talked about making CC move the puck up ice the full 200 feet,” Denver coach Jim Montgomery said. “It was our first road win of the year, so it is good to get that monkey off our backs.”
