Boulder’s Modular Robotics will release a major upgrade Tuesday for its line of for children as young as 4.
The robotic blocks, which evolved from founder Eric Schwei kardt’s work at Carnegie Mellon University, snap together using magnets so there are no small parts. But children must put certain cubes together strategically to get them to think and move.
The update includes a new operating system to help Cubelets run smoother and faster. Existing owners can get the update using an app. A new 12-piece kit also adds a Bluetooth block so children can control a robot with a new mobile app. With the new app, users will also be able to reprogram Cubelets.
