Re: “Call them Daesh, not Islamic State,” Nov. 24 guest commentary.

Kudos to Mitch Utterback for a most revealing and educational viewpoint on what to call the “Islamic State.” He clearly explains why our Middle Eastern allies are more accurately using the term “Daesh” to refer to this radical group of Muslim terrorists. I hope the U.S. media will also begin to use this term for these misogynistic assassins. They do not form or represent a “state” in any way. Those using the term “Islamic State” give the group a legitimate claim to statehood, and we clearly do not need any more terrorist “states.” Secretary of State John Kerry has gotten the message. The media now need to do the same.
