A Denver police officer and a local boy went head to head in a game of basketball, officials said Saturday.
On Tuesday, Denver Police District 5 Officer Jeannette Dominguez spotted a boy cruising toward Oakland Elementary School in northeast Denver on his bicycle with a basketball in tow, according to a Denver Police Department Facebook post.
Dominguez pulled up alongside the boy and challenged him to a game, which the boy “happily accepted,” police said.
“What transpired next was more than just some one on one,” the post said. “Officer Dominguez made a new friend who she learned wants to go to college and either play professional football or become a shoe designer. We don’t see any reason why he can’t do both!”
Photos of the game show Dominguez shooting the ball, the boy running and dribbling and the two posing for a photo together.
