An Aurora police officer who was attacked early Monday morning as he checked on a stranded vehicle was hit in the head with a meat cleaver, police say.
The at about 3:45 a.m. on a southbound I-225 exit ramp onto East Alameda Avenue.
The , Tuan Hoang, was fatally shot a short time later by other Aurora officers who responded to the attack and patrol car theft.
Aurora police on Thursday released photos used in the attack on the department’s Twitter feed.
The officer has been released from the hospital.
The incident remains under investigation.
