Aurora police cited an alleged drunken driver after he crashed a rental box truck into the Alameda Parkway bridge on northbound Interstate 225 early Friday morning, causing long backups on the key highway.

All lanes of northbound I-225 were reopened after they were closed for four hours, police said.

Monty Montez, 21, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and issued a summons for charges of careless driving, drunken driving and no proof of insurance.

Montez was driving supplies for in a Penske rental truck, said Christopher Amsler, Aurora police spokesman.

“He’s going to have a very angry boss,” Amsler said.
