DOWNEY, Calif. — Mourners filled a chapel to pay their respects to a California university student, the only known American killed in the Paris terrorist attacks last month.
The Long Beach Press-Telegram reported that friends, family and officials attended the funeral Friday of 23-year-old Nohemi Gonzalez, who lived in the Los Angeles suburb of El Monte.
Gonzalez was killed while eating with friends at a popular bistro in the French capital.
She was an industrial design major and one of 17 California State University at Long Beach students attending the Strate College of Design in Paris as part of a study abroad program.
The Islamic State terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the Nov. 13 gun-and-bomb attacks that left 130 people dead and hundreds injured at several sites in Paris, including a concert hall.
