Denver police are searching for a suspect who injured another motorist during a two-vehicle accident late Friday night and then ran from the scene.

The victim of the accident was an 18-year-old man, and he was taken to a hospital and treated for a broken foot, said Eranda Piyasena, Denver police spokesman.

The accident happened around 11:45 p.m. Friday at South Federal Boulevard and West Exposition Avenue, Piyasena said. The abandoned car had not been reported as stolen, which is often the case when hit-and-run suspects flee on foot.

Police are not releasing a description of the suspect, including whether that person is male or female or an adult, for investigative purposes.

The suspect faces at least a misdemeanor charge of hit-and-run, and could be charged with a felony depending on the circumstances, Piyasena said.

The story will be updated when new details are available.
